PROTOTYPE DEVELOPMENT FOR CHILDREN’S EDUCATIONAL FURNITURE IN THE U.S. MARKET

13 June 2026

BOHO has completed a six-month educational furniture prototype development program for Lakeshore Learning Materials, a U.S. brand specializing in learning materials, classroom equipment, and children’s furniture, with 60 stores across 29 states.

The project represents an important stage in preparing specialized educational furniture for mass production and export to the U.S. market.

Meeting the requirements of children’s educational furniture

Developing furniture for children’s learning environments requires rigorous control across every aspect of the product, from safety and material performance to chemical content, emissions, and finishing quality. The process is further complicated by the integration of multiple components within each product, including timber structures, upholstered elements, and electronic devices.

Six months of technical refinement and material testing

Throughout the six-month development process, BOHO continuously refined technical solutions, tested materials, and verified the compatibility of different components and devices. At the same time, the team monitored emissions from engineered wood, adhesives, paints, coatings, and upholstery materials, while controlling levels of lead, certain plasticizers, and other substances that may present health risks under relevant U.S. regulations.

Preparing educational furniture prototypes for mass production

Prototype development is a critical stage in which BOHO and Lakeshore finalize material selections, construction details, and technical solutions, ensuring that each product meets the required standards before entering mass production. The project further demonstrates BOHO factory’s capabilities in developing and manufacturing specialized products in accordance with the stringent requirements of international markets.
